[AU: Kaylee in Eden]

This ain't Persephone.

Kaylee ain't exactly sure what this place is, but it ain't Persephone. And that wall with "Eden" written on it, that ain't Serenity, which it should be, seeing as she just left her.

"Uh..." she hazards, rotating around slowly, checking out her surroundings, her smile fading with worry. "Cap'n?"

Pretty much. And once Sokka's managed to notice it, he gets an idea.

"Thirty-- percent organic material, the rest is-- brick and steal an'-- little-- bit of copper I found-- around here-"

Some might call it cheating. Sokka calls it amazing.

Best. Idea. Ever.

"Broken crates lying around," Sokka gasps, his hands gripping her hips now, but not enough to impede her movement at all. "Plus there's-- dirt and rocks, once you pull up some of the stones. Got the copper right out of the electrical wires, just stripped the plastic off."

"Much," he replies, grinning terribly when she gasps, when the position shifts, and jerks his hips while he's got her gaze caught. "Vibration travels better."

He illustrates this with the vibration of other organic matter. Of course, 'vibration' is defined very, very loosely here.

"Since it's mostly wood, it doesn't even use up that much power itself - that much vibration, it powers itself just 'cause it's on."

"An' it's connected to th'other-- machine by a-- a-- ah, spirits--"

Sokka follows her lead unconsciously, gasping and throwing his head back, feet braced on the floor to help lift his hips to reach hers, hard and fast.

The generator's still humming but it seems strangely off-beat now.

His fingers are back in her hair, clenching tightly as his shoulders break from the floor to kiss her harder, groaning against her lips. The other hand is at her hips, helping or demanding or maybe a little bit of both until, finally, he bucks hard and shudders back against her.

In moments like these, just about everything is powered by spirits.

He can live with that. And also with nearly suffocating just because he doesn't want to break the kiss.

Eventually, though, Sokka falls back against the floor, one arm around her waist, the other thrown over his head, panting hard and gasping harder, eyes on the ceiling.

And grinning.

"Hen hao a..."

The noise doesn't need to be sexy for the entire experience to be. Besides, Sokka's too busy groaning with the move to really worry about it, other than to get his arm back around her waist once she's with him again.

He laughs at the question, flushed from it, from the answer, or just from exertion is unclear. "Oh, yeah... years. Not you, though, obviously, unless that's your version of 'rusty.'"

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-05-09 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
Sokka just laughs again and leans up to kiss her, grinning. "Hell, I don't care how you meant it, so long as-- I mean, if you're not laughing or pissed off at me by the end of it, I figure something must have gone right on my end."

The arm thrown over his head lifts and he uses those fingers to brush her hair back from her face, wanting to see her. "In that case, regular visits from you might actually kill me. So you know."

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-05-09 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Just once, then never again, that I've seen," Sokka admits, more interested, for the moment, in Kaylee Hair than Talk of Kaylee Leaving. "But I really don't know. Some people have shown up here that I knew elsewhere, but they didn't remember me. Different dimensions, timelines, all of that."

"Not since we figured out how to get people home." Turning his head to smile at her, he curls his arm around her shoulders, fingers playing in her hair. "Not everybody hangs around like you are now - not that I'm complaining at all, but most people now are here for a couple hours at most before they're on their way home."

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-05-09 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
He grins and has to swallow back a laugh. Her honesty is refreshing and the innocence makes just about anything she has to say suddenly completely undeniably good-natured.

"You really can hang around, if you want to," he offers again, watching her rather than the machine. "...and the lights and alarm really are controlled upstairs, I wasn't just..."

Trying to stall so they could have hot, sweaty, engineer sex on the floor.

"No clocks," Sokka explains, wincing when she reacts like that, sitting up immediately after carefully dislodging fingers from her hair. "Don't worry - I'll get you back.

"...after I find pants, anywaaa... how did they get over here?"

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-05-09 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Can't imagine anyone yelling at you." Pulling up his jeans and getting them fascinated, Sokka's up a moment later to pick up Kaylee's clothing and bring it over before searching out his shirt. "Does he come to see you often? It couldn't've been... more than an hour, maybe."
