"Only the same way you trained last year," she reminds him, and then shakes her head. "Sorry -- last year for us. We're a little isolated out here. I'm trying to learn the boomerang, but there's no-one to teach now."

This last she admits a little guiltily.

"I wouldn't," she adds hurriedly, "if there were any men to fight. I don't mean to be taking a man's job. It's just someone needs to protect us."
